Grand Re-Opening of Ideal-U Weight Loss Center

Supporting both Prescription and YOUR BODY’s NATURAL GLP-1 Strategies

In the next few weeks, Park Street Healing Arts will announce the grand re-opening of  Ideal U Weight Loss Center, with a specific focus on supporting two types of patients—those who have been prescribed GLP-1 weight loss drugs, AND those who would like to enhance their body’s natural GLP-1 hormone production without drugs.

What’s all the hype about?

  •  GLP-1 is a peptide hormone naturally made in the body that increases the feeling of satiety and fullness, reducing appetite. When the body makes this hormone, it circulates through your system for only a few minutes before it’s broken down by enzymes.  Prescription GLP-1 drugs, however, have been designed to be resistant to those enzymes, and can circulate through the body from several hours to many days.

The positive effects of drugs like Ozembic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are enhanced insulin secretion, suppressed appetite, slower gastric emptying and delayed food moving through the intestine.  However, patients on these drugs often feel nausea and essentially lose their interest in eating (and drinking water). They can also experience something called anhedonia, to varying degrees. Anhedonia is the inability to experience joy or pleasure from food or experiences that used to bring joy.

You are already familiar with the beneficial effects of natural GLP-1 hormones at a mild level because your body will create the same response when you exercise or eat a meal of protein and healthy fats.  You’ll feel satiated and unmotivated to eat more. The difference between your natural GLP-1 response and a drug induced response is duration. Your natural GLP-1 hormone will be gone in minutes. The drug will last much longer and generally mask your desire to eat, even if your body needs fuel or nutrients.

Is it dangerous to “biggie size” the hormone artificially?  Yes, and no.   The metabolic and weight loss benefits could have a huge benefit to your overall health. Howe, ver the side effects are dangerous, if not understood and supported.  Additionally, the drugs have not been used for weight loss long enough for us to understand the long-term consequences.

This is why Dr Jill and Scott Massengil have brought in Eryn DeFoort—veteran weight loss coach of 30 years—to relaunch their Ideal U Weight Loss Center with a new focus—to specifically support patients on prescription GLP-1s, AND to support those who wish to enhance their own GLP-1 response through natural methods (no drugs).

CONCERNING SIDE EFFECTS  OF GLP-1 Drugs that CAN BE AVOIDED

With the right coaching and weekly accountability, the dangerous side effects of these drugs can be mitigated. But it’s imperative that they’re understood. Without specific nutrients and hydration you could experience:

(1) Extreme muscle loss that leads to poor mobility and fatigue. (especially in face and bum)

(2) Dehydration that can lead to kidney issues, dizziness and fatigue.

(3) Nutrient deficiencies that lead to reduced immunity, nervous system stress and fatigue.

(4) Anhedonia (lack of pleasure from that which once gave you joy).

Do you see the trend? If a patient on GLP1 medication does not (1) receive accountability and support (2) eat the proper amount of protein and nutrients and (3) does not hydrate adequately—the weight loss journey can become very fatiguing.

This is why Eryn is so excited to bring a new platform to support patients choosing to try these drugs—which will include protein-rich foods, counseling support and regular check-ins with Dr Jill to assess detox pathways and organ function.

*Dr Jill and Scott will not be prescribing GLP-1 drugs, but will work in collaboration with your prescribing doctor.

For more information and a complimentary introductory session to learn more about the program, call Eryn at 206-939-8988.

Note from Doctor Jill…

It was July 18,1998 when my family joined the best community that no one wants to be a part of--the organ transplant community. My mom donated a kidney to my sister 28 years ago and “Willy” (the kidney) is still holding strong.

My sister, Sandy, has participated in the Transplant Games of America every other year since. This year it was in Denver and I brought my mom to the games. Sandy won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in badminton. She also participated in table tennis and volleyball with Team Connecticut.

This community of people have been through some of the hardest experiences of life and came out on the other side full of gratitude and humility for the second (and third) chance at LIFE. I found the lack of pretense and willingness to share deeply with everyone to be a beautiful and somewhat unexpected side benefit of the experience. None of the things that typically separate people were present. I found myself wishing regular society was more like that.

Remember organ donation saves lives. And what beautiful lives they live!

In Health,

Doctor Jill

A Fond Farewell to Sarah for Five Fabulous Years!

For 5 years Sarah Stoll has been the warm smile and the friendly voice that greeted you at the front desk. This month Sarah is fulfilling a long-awaited dream--to launch her business as a full-time Cranial Sacral Therapist.  We are so grateful for all of her years of service to our patients, and we wish her the best in her new endeavor.

Sarah has been a licensed massage therapist for over 22 years, and now with 5 years practicing her new modality she’s ready to fly! She’ll be just down the road at her new treatment room which is located next to Plume Apothecary at 209 Main Ave S. in North Bend (in the same building as the Meadowbrook Urgent Care).

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle manual therapy that releases restrictions within the connective tissues surrounding the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. The flow of cerebrospinal fluid can be felt and gently moved by a well-trained therapist like Sarah. She says the modality is excellent for symptoms such as headaches, vertigo, migraines, TMJ, spinal and brain injuries, Parkinson’s, dementia, physical and emotional trauma, lymph detox, hiatal hernia syndrome, and post surgery rehab.

Anyone who has been on Sarah’s massage table knows she is uniquely suited for this work, as she’s been known around the office as “magic hands”!  You can reach her for an appointment at 541-914-5205 or kealohi.massage@gmail.com.
